Follow the steps to sign up with SSO.

Privacy and security changes

UAB eLearning plans to make some security and privacy adjustments to Zoom beginning in April 2020. Zoom had not previously supported end-to-end encryption. However, UAB eLearning has published a new whitepaper. The white paper also gives users more security options. Let's find out how the changes affect Zoom meetings. UAB's privacy, security, and encryption changes can help you ensure that your meetings remain safe.

To prevent unauthorized participants, it is important to review the suggested security settings when setting up a Zoom meeting. Toggle between these settings and choose which one suits your needs. Zoom security settings can prevent users from 'ZoomBombing,' so you can protect everyone's privacy. University of Alabama System offices have taken steps to secure their Zoom accounts, including turning off screen sharing except for the host, "allow removed participants to join," and file sharing.

Signing in to your UA Zoom accounts

After downloading the Zoom app, sign into your account using your email address. These steps will help you create an account. Next, download the Zoom client from the Play or App Store. Click the sign in button in the Zoom application to sign in or join the meeting. You can also sign up using your BlazerID (or email address) and password. You will receive a license or a basic account when you create a Zoom Account. You will need to change your password 120 days after you have purchased a Zoom license. The app is free to use for faculty, staff, and academic departments at the University. Zoom can be used on University-owned devices as well as on personal devices. After logging in, a confirmation email will be sent to you.

How to create a waiting space

UAB allows users to create a waiting room. This is an easy process that lets them share information with others. The screen can be customized with a title and logo. These can be added to the screen using the pencil and delete buttons. Once the screen is set up, you can start describing the waiting area. The 400-character limit for a description of the waiting space is not enough.

First, create an UAB Zoom account to create a waiting area in your meeting. Create an account with Single sign on. You can login using your myBama credentials. This option is mandatory from December 22, 2021. This process can take up to five minutes and will require a password. More information is available at the Center for Instructional Technology's website and webinars.

Creating polling questions

Create a CSV file to import the questions you wish to include in your poll. This poll can be edited and/or removed. You will see the results in a report. You can also access the entire poll report. This will show all responses. Zoom Technical Support can enable the feature. Once you have set up your polling questions, you can then launch it in a meeting.

You can also opt to allow polling at all your meetings. These will appear in the Polls/Quizzes Tab. Click on Polling > Advanced. The poll will display the Type, Name, Question(s), and Enable information. Once enabled, you can view the results in Microsoft Excel. You can also allow polling in multiple meetings. This allows each meeting to have a poll.

FAQ

Where is elearning used?

It is a way for people who are unable or unwilling to go to classes face-to-face to learn at their own pace. You can also teach someone how to use it.

E-Learning is a popular option for businesses as it can be used in training programs.

E-Learning is becoming more popular in schools due to its time and money saving.

What are the main types of elearning? What are their goals?

There are three major types e-learning.

  1. Content delivery- This type or e-learning seeks to provide information to students. Examples include textbooks and lesson plans.
  2. Instructional design - This type of e-learning focuses on helping learners develop skills. Tutorials and simulations are two examples.
  3. Learning management - This type eLearning allows instructors to manage and monitor student activity. You can use discussion forums or virtual classrooms as examples.

What should my eLearning course be like?

Your eLearning course needs to be interactive and encourage learners to engage with it.

This means that both the design and content must be simple to use.

This also means the content has to be engaging and entertaining.

These are the three main things that will ensure your eLearning course is compliant with these requirements.

Content

First, you must decide what content will be included in your eLearning courses. The length of each section in the course must be decided. For example, if you want to teach someone how to write a letter, then you need to decide how much time you want to spend on each topic.

Navigation

The second decision that you must make is how you want learners to navigate through your course. Do you want your learners to navigate through the course one page at a time? Or do you want them to jump directly to specific parts of the course?

Design

The last step is to decide the appearance of your course. You need to determine how long each screen should take to load and what font size you should use. You will also need to decide whether graphics should be included (such pictures).

After you've made these important decisions, it is time to test your plan to make sure it works.

What is the Internet connection required for eLearning.

It all depends what you're looking for. There is no need to connect to the internet if you're just taking an online class. Access to the internet is required if you plan to use interactive features like quizzes, etc.

What are some of the key obstacles to eLearning success?

The biggest challenge in e-Learning lies not in technicality but rather in culture. It's about people, and how they interact.

Understanding what motivates and how they learn best is key. It is also important to understand what motivates them and how they feel about learning online.

This is where we have to find ways to make this experience as natural as possible.
