WIDA Conference 2020 will be here soon! Register now to be part of the most exciting conference about the future education. Find out what the conference is all about, and what you can expect to learn. These are the highlights that you will want to see. In addition, we'll discuss eSummit sessions, the Keynote speaker, and Video Library Conferences. We'll also touch on how to register and what you can expect from WIDA Conference 2020.

Session of eSummit

WIDA is excited to announce its eSummit online learning opportunity. This program is free for domestic WIDA Consortium members. It is also open to federal agencies, states, or territories. This year's WIDA eSummit will focus on the design and navigational features of the 2020 Edition of WIDA ELD. To learn more, visit the WIDA eSummit page.

The eSummit session will feature several key speakers including WIDA staff, educators, and experts in the field. Keynote speaker, Viet Thanh Nguyen, was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner award and a Pulitzer Prize winner. Other sessions will discuss topics that will be of relevance to teachers of K-12 multilingual student and include the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework. The WIDA eSummit will include presentations from WIDA staff and social media updates.

Registering requirements

WIDA Annual Conference started in 2013 and has been traveling to many cities since. The first conference drew 600 participants and a lengthy waiting list. The conference now draws over 1,000 attendees. Register on the WIDA site to register for this conference. This year's theme: Educating Diverse Students: Building Communities of Practice. These registration requirements will help you plan for this conference.


WIDA Annual Conference attendees must be members. WIDA members can get discounts on conferences. Register by entering the code "WIDA", at registration. Once you've completed your registration, you can view and download the program of events. Once you've registered, it is possible to review the conference program and choose the sessions which are most relevant to your professional advancement. There are two keynote speakers for the conference.

Keynote speaker

The WIDA conference is the premier event for educators, and the keynote speaker will be Viet Thanh Nguyen, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Dayton Literary Peace Prize finalist, and professor at the University of Southern California. WIDA eConference sessions will be based on the conference theme. They are for educators who work with multilingual K-12 students. WIDA's English Language Development Standards Framework (WIDA ELSF) will also be highlighted. Participants can choose from five concurrent sessions within each block.

WIDA conference also features online presentations, curated panels, and access to recordings after the event. The WIDA eConference will also feature a spotlight session on parent outreach. WIDA's Featured Educator program will spotlight outstanding colleagues from classroom, district, and state education settings. WIDA will host key note speakers as well as educational leaders via our Featured educator program.

Video Library Conference

Video Library will offer a forum for library professionals to discuss best practices and share knowledge to advance video reference. Using the digital platform, attendees can view conference videos from any PC, Mac computer, iDevice, web browser or mobile device. Access to the videos is possible without special hardware. Additionally, attendees can share their online credentials and login details with library colleagues. In addition, the video library provides detailed instructions to help them watch the conference program.

PLA celebrated its 75th year anniversary on October 13, 2019, and continues to celebrate its past in 2020. It released an Anniversary video that featured stories from members. A fundraising campaign has been launched to fund 15 scholarships for 2020's Video Library Conference. Library school students, early career librarians, support staff are all eligible to receive scholarships. Microsoft has also been a partner in two initiatives that the organization developed to support library staff, and improve professional development. The PLA offers many initiatives to help libraries thrive and grow.
